Manager Vincent Kompany admitted his side were second best at the Hawthorns on Friday night, as Brandon Thomas-Asante cancelled out Jay Rodriguez's opener in the 98th minute.
Post-match, the boss touched on the performance, conceding late on and the fatigueless in his players after nine games in the first month of the season.
Kompany on the match:
"It was close, it would have been a little bit of a hold up if had got the win today I think.
"West Brom were good, they made it very difficult for us and we made it difficult for ourselves.
"We weren't as composed on the ball, as we have been in previous games.
"We had some big chances, where we could have hurt them a little bit more.
"But it just looked like this period took a bit of energy out of the team."
Kompany on the late goal:
"Whether it's eight, 10, 12, 15 minutes, it was the consequence for us never really getting on top of this game.
"But as those balls kept coming in, something is going to happen and a deflection gives them a goal.
"It could have been a foul on Gudmundsson previously, but if you don't finish off the game in the moments you have, then this is possible."

Kompany on the busy opening month of the season:
"It is that (three games in six days) but it is everything before that, it's been game after game after game.
"I have no complaints, that is why the Championship is special.
"It was just early with integrating new players, I thought we could have done a few changes before the game to freshen up but the guys have just got in the building.
"We went for a little bit more consistency and they had big chances but we had huge chances as well.
"It was more that we kept giving the ball away which we haven't done all season and then it turns into a different game and we did as well as we could in that game."
Kompany on Muric and Tella's fitness:
"I don't think injuries as such, I think Muric has been coping with some pain and he's done his best.
"Nathan, he was showing signs of fatigue after the game against Millwall, but we chose to play him again and he did well, won us the penalty.
"But he just couldn't run anymore and needed to come off."

Kompany on the summer transfer window now being shut:
"I am happy the window is closed! I am excited to see these players improve and there is a lot that I am excited to see them wear a Burnley shirt and help make us a better team.
"There is a good mix between experience for now and talent and as well players who are going to be there for the future."
