Manager Vincent Kompany believes his side's patience paid off on Tuesday night, as the Clarets moved to top of the Sky Bet Championship table with a 1-0 win over Norwich City at Turf Moor.
Jay Rodriguez's 80th minute penalty proved to be the difference on the night and post-match Kompany discussed the win, Rodriguez's winner and the electric atmosphere.
Kompany on the victory:
"The lads are proud of themselves in there and so am I. I think we needed that home game after the busy schedule and way trips recently.
"We played well, I think we stayed patient and worked our way into the Norwich box and were rewarded in the end with a good win.
"Every game is different, we knew it was a big one, Norwich came down last season and we expected it to be a tough game.
"It's a very rewarding three points for us and we are all pleased in there tonight, but now we focus straight on the weekend."
Kompany on Rodriguez's winning penalty:
"It's great for him and he does it for the club that he loves and you could see that.
"I think everyone that gets on the scoresheet gets a big cheer, but he gets an even bigger one it seems and it's special.
"When the player is from the town he plays for, it is important and always a nice moment when they score.
"He's happy and you can see that and when he's happy that's what he does, so we're pleased for him."
Kompany on the upcoming two home games:
"Turf Moor is a special place for us, anyone that comes and plays here on our pitch, has to feel the different atmosphere.
"There's a crowd here, with a good group of players that feel that and the connection is great between us.
"We just have to make that count now and use it to our advantage, it will be electric on Saturday as always."
Kompany on Josh Cullen's absence tonight:
"He took a whack on the weekend and he wasn't able to train yesterday.
"This game came a bit too soon and there is that many games, any niggle you get, you just have to utilise your squad and that's what we did today."
