Manager Vincent Kompany was proud of his side's impressive display against Premier League opposition, as the Clarets secured their place in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round with a 4-2 victory over AFC Bournemouth.
Braces from Anass Zaroury and Manuel Benson ensured Burnley's place in the next round on a drenched afternoon at the Vitality Stadium.
Kompany hailed his team's efforts in difficult weather conditions against a side in the top tier and was pleased with their competitiveness against the Premier League opponents.
Post-match, the Clarets chief said: “It was a real cup tie today, the game just never stood still and neither did our guys, I'm proud of them all.
“They can also be proud of themselves and the performance. Some players took their opportunity as well, which as a coach I can only be happy about.
“Against Premier League opposition it’s always going to be difficult but I think we made our fans proud today with the performance and the result.
“Winning is something that you need to appreciate and value and it was a good test for us to see how our players would react to stronger opposition.
“But the game is done now and we won’t live on it for too long, we will be going back to our Championship duties now."

Benson opened the scoring just five minutes in, before grabbing his second of the cup tie and his ninth of the season in all competitions in the second half. Meanwhile on the other flank, Zaroury snatched a quick-fire double in the first half just before the break also taking his tally to nine for the season.
Kompany had plenty of praise for the pair and their qualities shown this season, but admits it doesn't surprise him as much anymore.
“First of all, I will always praise the team as it’s a team effort, there’s guys behind them that get them in the right positions to get the goals.
“But they have showed these types of qualities all season, so I don’t think that’s surprising anymore for us.
“I’m pleased that they can repeat these types of actions and it’s not just a one-off, they show it in the Championship, so I am happy for them both.
“They are still both a long way from their full potential, we just try and guide them on that road and make sure we do all we can to help them.
“It’s a good feature for us, to keep scoring, keep being dangerous and threatening. There’s plenty of goals for within the team and it’s showed that again today."
