Clarets chief pleased with Swansea thrashing as Burnley go top

Manager Vincent Kompany admitted he was 'happy' for the team after their 4-0 thumping over Swansea City on Saturday, but knows the side must not get carried away.

Post-match the Burnley boss discussed the result, the performance, the goal scorers and the importance of keeping focused on the next game.

Kompany on the victory:

"I am glad but not over the top, I am happy for them.

"We played really well, in the extreme way I am I think we can be even more dominant, but my key concern in every game is to be threatening and we were with and without the ball.

"I am happy about that and our team is still a work in progress, a lot of young players who have improvement in them.

"But overall I am pleased for the whole team today and we get ready for the next one."

Kompany on the performance:

"I don't think we were comfortable as such, Swansea made us work hard, they are a good team.

"We played against a completely different opponent today and that is the beauty of this league. I said before the game it would be a good test because we have seen every style of play and faced every style of play and that is good for a coach because it gives you a reference point for the next games.

"But the performance was good, filled with energy throughout. Once we got the first we had some momentum and then went on to get the other goals.

"And I think one of the things I put forward, almost as much as results, is giving the fans something to be happy about it.

"I am never sure of the result or where this team is going to be so we try and give something to the fans and today was a good day for that."

All the team news ahead of the Clarets' trip to Birmingham

Kompany on Rodriguez's brace:

"He is enjoying it, a player like him, he lives off the vibe he gets from his team-mates and we have a lot of the ball and for strikers like him that is what he likes.

"We're pleased for him to get another two goals, he deserved them today."

Kompany on now focusing on Birmingham:

"We can't get carried away and i know we won't.

"It was a great team performance, a great result and a great day for the fans, but we have our next game in five days, so we will be ready for that.

"We will have a look closer to Wednesday at the squad, see who's ready and then be ready to go again."
