Burnley are in Spain to face Cádiz on Sunday in our final pre-season match before the new season starts next weekend.
This will be the first time fans will be able to see Scott Parker’s Clarets live in competitive action and the Head Coach is really looking forward to it!
“It means a lot! It’s a really good time for some of the fans travelling over to see the team and, more importantly, for me and the players to see the fans!”
“This will be the first time for all of us to be connected a little bit which we’ve not been able to over the last few weeks for different reasons. We’re really looking forward to the game!”
The full squad have been training on the outskirts of Girona this week with the new staff putting all the players through their paces under the blazing Spanish sun.
While hard work has been key - the week has also been a good chance to bring the squad closer together.
"It’s been brilliant. We’ve had some hard days and tough days and put some really hard work into the team. It’s been a really good trip so far."
"It’s been pretty intense! It’s been exciting too! I’ve been really pleased with how it’s gone so far."
"I’m a firm believer in the environment and culture and making people feel at ease."
"We want to bring in some elite standards and world class habits that I believe in. That means at times I'm demanding and pretty tough. That's the person I am and I try and give that to the players I'm working with."
"It's been a chance for me to get that over to the players and try and let the players see me. Let them understand what I expect."
With Turf Moor being unavailable, because of the pitch being completely re-laid, the opportunity was taken to mix up the format of the behind-closed-doors games.
This gave the new boss a chance to have a really good look at all of his players.
“The games so far haven’t been traditional ninety minutes games.”
“We’ve had to mix games up, playing two games at a time or three thirty minutes or a seventy five minutes match. Just trying to manage minutes for each of the players.”
The game will kick off 5.30pm UK time (6.30pm local) at the Antonio Barbadillo Stadium in Arcos de la Frontera.
Fans travelling to the match are reminded tickets will go on sale at the stadium on the day and will be available to purchase two hours ahead of kick-off.
Those who want to watch the game online will be able to stream the game on Clarets +.
