Formed in 1910, Cadiz CF spent their early years in Spain in the second and third-tier before reaching the top-flight for the first time in 1977.
Despite being relegated in their first campaign at the top of the Spanish football pyramid, a rollercoaster few years were to come as Cadiz saw three promotions and two relegations, which eventually saw them back in the top-tier in 1985.
Eight established years in La Liga came to an end in 1993, before back-to-back relegations saw Cadiz drop to the third tier as the club suffered a difficult period off the pitch financially but after coming through that, they were back in the top-flight again by 2006.
Years gone by saw the Spanish side fluctuate between the second and third tier, before promotion in the 2019/20 campaign saw them back in the bigtime alongside the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Despite a 12th place finish in their first year back in the top-flight, Cadiz were relegated at the end of last season putting an end to their four-year stay in La Liga.
In the dug out
Paco Lopez, who enjoyed over a a 10-year playing spell in Spain, was appointed manager of Cadiz just two months ago after leaving former side Granada in November last year.
Born in Silla, Lopez played for the likes of Levante, Castellon, Murcia and Hercules and the Spaniard took his first role as a coach in June 2004 after taking charge of Villareal C.
12 months later, Lopez was appointed boss of Catarroja, where he spent three years and managed over 120 games before joining Benidorm in the summer of 2008.
After spells with Alcoyano, Cartagena, Valencia B and a return to Villareal C, Lopez was named manager of Villareal B in May 2014, where he would spend over three years.
Lopez then joined Levante and managed over 150 games in a three year period before leaving in November 2022 to become boss of La Liga side Granada.
12 months in post at Granada saw Lopez depart just before Christmas last year and had a seven month break before then joining Cadiz this summer.
