Monday night was a proud moment for Claret and Welsh international Connor Roberts, who made his 50th cap for Wales in the nation’s 2-0 win over Latvia.
Captain Aaron Ramsey and substitute David Brooks got the goals on the evening to give the Dragons the win in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
On ringing in his 50th cap at Riga’s Skonto Stadium, Roberts said: “It was an incredibly proud night for me. To achieve 50 international caps is something I never thought would be possible.
“I never take representing Wales for granted. Ever since I got my second, third, fourth cap, I always imagined what it would feel like to reach 50. It’s a really proud moment.”

The right-back, who signed for the Clarets in August 2021, began his international career for the Welsh U21s and made his senior debut against Uruguay in March 2018.
Since then, the 27-year-old has enjoyed many highlights with his country including the euphoria of scoring a dramatic winner against Turkey at Euro 2020, ending Wales’s 64-year wait for a place in the World Cup with a win over Ukraine in June 2022 and going on to start every game at the Qatar World Cup.
And, for the boy from Neath southwest Wales, the special feeling of receiving that call up never fades.
"Every time I do get a call up, I text my mam, text my dad, text my wife, and say, 'I got called up again'.

"They say, well, did you expect not to or whatever? But it's still a proud moment.
“That first camp, the first time I ever got called up, it was a bit surreal, to be honest. I'd only played a handful of games for Swansea.
“A few months before that, I was at Middlesbrough not playing and few months later I was getting called up, went away to China and I managed to get on the pitch. That is a distant memory now. Luckily, I've had many times on the pitch for Wales since."
Roberts and Wales’s crucial Euro 2024 qualifier win over Latvia on Monday night puts them fourth in Group D with three games left to play.
