In this article, the club in focus is Huddersfield Town...
Familiar foes from just over the Pennines, Huddersfield Town were founded in 1908, entering the Football League from 1910 onwards.
First winning the FA Cup 12 years after that, Town also became the first English club to win three successive league titles, the last of that three-peat coming in 1925-26. Throughout the years, the Yorkshire outfit have been managed by some big names including Bill Shankly and Denis Law.
The Terriers are four-time runners up in the FA Cup and three-time runners up in the first division, which they dropped out on in 1972. They did return to the top flight in 2017, winning promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs and surviving a season before being relegated in 2018/2019.
Huddersfield came mightily close to repeating their play-off heroics last term, losing to Nottingham Forest at Wembley in the final to a single own goal.

Nickname(s): The Terriers
2021/22 Finishing Position: 3rd (Beaten in the Play-off Final)

Notable Connections: Separated by circa 25 miles, the two clubs have mutual interests in numerous players over the years who have appeared in both Claret & Blue as well as Blue & White.
Namely, striker Andy Payton – whose goals fired Burnley into the First Division – made the move to Turf Moor from Huddersfield in 1998 as part of a swap deal with Paul Barnes. Payton would go onto stay with the Clarets until 2003, moving into non-league afterwards.
Midfielder Scott Arfield is another to have played for both clubs. Now up in Scotland with Rangers, the midfielder was with Burnley from 2013 to 2018, joining from the Terriers where he had spent three years prior.
The Canadian helped Town to League One promotion in 2011/12, before achieving two promotions to the Premier League as a Claret. Others to have featured for both include Brian Laws and Frank Sinclair.
Last Time We Met: The Clarets last meeting with Huddersfield is much more recent than most of those in the Championship this term. Last January, the Terriers came to Turf Moor in the third round of the FA Cup.
On a day when the rain never seemed to end, Burnley went in ahead at the break courtesy of Jay Rodriguez, who latched onto Ashley Westwood’s ball over the top of the visitors’ backline to hand the Clarets the lead.
After Josh Koroma had levelled things up for Huddersfield though, defender Matty Pearson popped up with a header to win it in the closing stages. The Terriers would go onto reach round five of the competition, knocked out by eventual play-off conquerors Nottingham Forest.
