Burnley Football Club is saddened to hear of the loss of former Burnley FC Assistant Manager Clive Middlemass at the age of 77
Middlemass joined the Clarets in 1992 becoming Assistant Manager to Jimmy Mullin and was instrumental in in helping the Clarets win the Play-off Final against Stockport County in 1994.
After the departure of Jimmy Mullen in February 1996, Middlemass took over briefly as caretaker Manager, before becoming Assistant Manager to Adrian Heath the following month. In 1998 he was appointed Chief Scout by Chris Waddle.
After leaving Turf Moor he had spells with Preston North End and Derby County as Chief Scout before joining Everton as Opposition Scout in 2013.

He started his footballing career at Elland Road before joining Workington in 1963, he made over 170 appearances for the Cumbrians over a seven year period before a serious car crash ended his footballing career.
Later on in his life he had spells as Assistant Manager for both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers during the 1980’s, before being appointed Manager of Carlisle United in 1987. He remained at Brunton Park until 1991.
