Burnley has quickly become home to Lara Miller, who says she and her teammates are buzzing for Sunday’s big game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The midfielder only joined the Claret Women in February, but has swiftly cemented herself as one of the side’s key players, scoring on her first start as Jay Bradford’s side swept away North West rivals AFC Fylde 7-0.
Starting the last eight league games on the trot, Miller’s making plenty of fond memories in Claret & Blue as she told the club’s media team earlier this week.
“I’m really enjoying being part of such a positive group. When I joined, I said that it felt like home here, and settling in was really enjoyable.

“The girls were already playing well and were set up in a great position, so it was all about fitting in and seeing what I could add.
“To be a part of the group, and to come in and add that extra something has been exactly what I needed. Training’s been good, and I’ve quickly been able to learn how the group plays.
“I’ve helped them to carry on the momentum that they’d already built up, but we all know now we’ve got to go and finish the job off.”
Miller’s role in Bradford’s side is one which she’s relishing even more after a difficult couple of years.
Formerly of Manchester United’s academy, the midfielder joined Sheffield United midway through last season on loan from Lewes before making the move a permanent one in the summer just gone.

Recovering from a lengthy injury lay-off, game time was hard to come by with the Blades, and Miller – in her own words - hasn’t looked back since making the move to Burnley.
“Getting regular game time like I am doing now is always whar I’ve wanted. For one reason or another, it’s not quite worked out at other placed, but it’s so nice for me to have it now.
“I think you appreciate it even more when you go through times where you’ve not had the opportunity to play as regularly as you’d like.
“It’s so enjoyable to get a run of games, feel that momentum and have the sore legs after you come off the pitch. It’s all the little things like that you miss when you’re not playing.

“My family have been there every step of the way, and it’s nice for them now to see me on a football pitch with a smile on my face again too.”
This weekend, Miller and her teammates – currently 2nd - will look to go top of the table heading into the final game of the season.
To do so, they need to take three points against 3rd-placed Wolves, who last season won the division but lost out in the promotion play-off final to Southampton.
The midfielder re-enforced the message for Clarets fans to get down to the Anchor Ground in Darwen to show their support for the team.

“I’d say it’s a great game to come down to if it’s your first one watching us! It’s two teams fighting it out at the right end of the table, and probably the biggest game of the season in terms of the league.
“Darwen’s facilities are great too, it’s a good place for you to come and watch a game. Hopefully we can put on a show with the sun shining, and you can all enjoy yourselves!
“It really does help us to have your support behind us.”
Entry is completely FREE on Sunday, and the ground can be located with the postcode BB3 0BB.
