Wayne Hennessey has been short-listed for the Carabao Cup player of the round thanks to his match-winning debut for the Clarets.
Hennessey kept a clean sheet and then saved two Newcastle penalties as Burnley successfully came through a shoot-out at St James’ Park to set up a third-round tie at home to Rochdale.
It was the perfect start to Hennessey’s Clarets’ career after the Wales international keeper arrived at Turf Moor this summer.
And the keeper now needs supporter votes to help him with the player-of-the-round award, which will be decided by a public poll.
Hennessey is up against Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi, Southampton’s Mohamed Elyounoussi and Sunderland’s hat-trick hero Aiden O'Brien for the award.
