Nicky Hayen and his squad travel to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday in the EFL Sky Bet Championship.
Ahead of the game the Clarets' Head Coach spoke to the media about what he's expecting from Sunday's opponents and what he believes new signings Dastan Satpayev & Anel Ahmedhodžić will bring to the team.
EMOTION DISPLAYED ON THE TOUCHLINE
“It was a controlled emotion [at the West Ham game]. We deserved a lot more at that moment, and then you score, and you had the momentum in the game. We did it at a really good moment and you felt that the fans were pushing you towards their goal.
“When you score the goal it’s a certain relief, but it was totally deserved. You then express the feeling you felt at that moment, and I think everyone felt it in the stadium. It was a really nice feeling.”
LATEST SIGNING AHMEDHODŽIĆ
“He knows the league which is really important. Anel is also a player with a lot of quality, a lot of talent, and of course the experience.
“He’s 27, so is more of a senior, who knows the league and can bring that experience.
“He played abroad for Feyenoord, a team that want to play with the ball a lot and made the right decisions and that’s why we want him in the team because he can execute the things we want to see.
“He’s versatile. If we play in a back four or a back five, he can manage himself there perfectly. We want to be versatile team and have players who can play in multiple positions.”
SATPAYEV’S TALENT
“He’s a really talented player at a young age, only 18. But if you see the skills that he has and the goal threat, it’s a really big asset for our team.
“We have 46 games in the league, we’ll also have the cup, and we want to use as many players as possible and to keep a higher standard. Everyone has to perform at their highest level, and you can’t play 46 games at your highest level – it’s almost impossible. That’s why we need a lot of players who can make a difference, Dastan is one of them. Everyone has to be important.”
SUNDAY’S OPPONENTS WEST BROM
“We’re facing a team that already started with three points away. It’s their first home game so you already know the motivation will be huge. When you come back with three points it gives you a lot of energy, this is something that we have to match. The energy will be in the stadium but they’re also a solid team working together.
“We know it will be a difficult game again, but we only have to see to ourselves. What did we do well against West Ham, what do we need to improve. Of course, you have to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent but first of all we have to look to ourselves.”
