Rob Harker is relishing the role of being one of the leaders amongst the U23s group on the pre-season trip in Scotland.
The forward, who struck both goals for the Clarets in Wednesday’s pre-season opener, is one of the most senior players amongst the squad and is heading into his fifth season as a Claret.
And the former Bury man, who wore the captain’s armband against Rangers, admits he enjoys showing the ropes to the younger and new faces around the squad.
Harker said: “I think it’s gone really well, there’s a lot of new lads, a few trialists and some of the younger lads now stepping up to the U23s on a permanent basis.

“Being an older one you want to bed them in, get them into the right habits and all that comes together on the pitch.
“And being captain on Wednesday was nice, I was happy to take that role on and I have to sort of show the lads how to do it in the 23s.
“You have to work hard, keep your head down and it’s just important for the older lads like me to show them the right pathway."
Harker grabbed both the goals in the 4-2 defeat in Glasgow on Wednesday, but the towering striker confessed he was just pleased to get minutes under the belt.
And the 21-year-old is hoping for an injury-free season, after missing a large amount of the 2020/21 season due to an ongoing injury issue.
“I was happy with my two goals, but happier with my minutes," Harker added.

"I missed the majority of last season through injury.
“So I just want to get through pre-season this year unscathed and be fit and ready for the upcoming season.
“Coming up here has definitely bonded the group together, we’ve got to know each other a lot more and it’s beginning to show on the pitch and in training.
“Now we’re looking forward to a physical test on Saturday against Ayr United. It’s a nice taste for the young lads to come up against some bigger and older lads and it certainly won’t do them any harm.”
