Zian Flemming's first goal for the Clarets was an important one, with the forward's header securing Burnley a point on the road at Hull City midweek.
Speaking after the game, the 26-year-old said he felt the team deserved to go into the break behind but was pleased to see the character and quality shown in the second half to salvage a point and almost clinch a late winner.
“Mixed feelings to be honest, myself and the whole squad, we always want to win. We don’t come here for less than three points. But after the first half, where I think we deserved to be 1-0 down because we just weren’t doing what we’re supposed to do, and it just wasn’t good enough. I think the second half we did well to get back into the game, luckily we scored a goal as well, and if we were a bit luckier then we could have scored a second one. So, a game of two halves.”
The travelling Clarets were almost treated to a dramatic ending when Jaidon Anthony came agonisingly close to snatching a late goal to take the three points home.
“Yeah, I think everyone counted that one as well. I haven’t seen it back but it’s probably just bad luck, the ball just bounced, and he just couldn’t get good connection. No one blames him for it, he played an incredible game and the assist he gave for me was tremendous so no bad words for that. Sometimes you just have bad luck.”

Flemming's goal in the 77th minute was his first for the Club and he's pleased to get off the mark.
“Yes [I'm happy]. I think this is my fifth game here, the first goal! It’s always nice to get off the mark, especially because it’s an important one as well. It gives a good feeling to go into the next one.”
And will his family back in Holland have enjoyed watching him net it?
“Definitely, they always tune in! Luckily, they were able to see it through Clarets+. They were watching it and especially my grandad, my grandad must be proud.”
The draw sees the Clarets sit second in the Sky Bet Championship table and extend their unbeaten run to eight matches. Is Flemming taking positives from the mentality to come back into the game and not get beat on the road?

“100% and I think if this game was the other way round, where we go into half-time winning and being better, then you’re going to be fuming that you don’t win the game. Now we’re still going to look very critically and reflect on our first half. If you’re on the road and you have a bad first half which we did, I think the character and quality we showed in the second half says a lot about our team. Because, again in this league, that isn’t easy.
“We managed to get a point from a game where we were 1-0 behind and struggling maybe a bit and with a little bit of luck we could have snatched a win as well. So, I think we showed great character and quality.”
And those learnings will be so key in a challenging league such as the Championship.
“Exactly, everyone knows that this league is incredibly tough and there’s not quite an easy game in there especially not on the road. Sometimes if you can’t win then you just have to take a point and move onto the next one.
“We’re eight games unbeaten now, if we would have lost here that streak all of a sudden goes and everyone is very disappointed. We’re still disappointed now obviously because we didn’t win, but now we go into Saturday still being eight games unbeaten and I think it helps to get a sort of mentality and edge about us. It’s like - even if we don’t have our best day, you aren’t just going to beat us.”
