Centre-back looks ahead to Molineux trip

Maxime Estève feels the squad have confidence heading into Sunday's encounter with Wolves at Molineux following a positive result against Leeds United last weekend.

Looking ahead to what he says will be a 'tough game' against the hosts, the centre-back says the team 'know exactly what they'll be coming up against' so will try their best.

“It was very important, considering the schedule and the table. So, to get the three points was massively important for us, for confidence, for everything. It was massive.

“When you see the faces in the training ground and after the game, everyone was very happy. Happy for Loum for his first goal – it was an incredible goal. Martin helped a lot to keep a clean sheet. Everyone played really well to help us get the three points.

“We were all very happy and it has helped us to feel confident approaching this game, coming up against Wolves on Sunday. We’re looking forward to that.”

Vítor Pereira's side have had a difficult campaign so far, what game is Estève expecting from them?

“It’ll be tough game for sure. They’ll try to do their best to get the three points at their home. I think the crowd will be good for them as well. So, we’ll try to do our best. Getting points is the most important thing we can do, we’ll try to do that.

“It’s another game but if you see the table, it’s important for the team. But every game in the Premier League is tough. It’ll be very tough, we know exactly what we’ll be coming up against this weekend, so we’ll try to do our best as usual. I hope with the confidence and what we’ve brought in recent games, that we’ll be in a good position.”

Prior to the Leeds United fixture, the Clarets had some tough results against Manchester City and Aston Villa, has Estève taken important learnings from those performances?

“Yes definitely. I think the best advice I can have from the Gaffer, and everyone is just the small details because it’s so important. You can’t switch off for one second because they have the quality to kill you at any moment. I think this is the best lesson I can take.”

Scott Parker's men enjoyed impressive defensive numbers last season and with some new faces joining the backline during the summer, the defender says the players are gelling well.

“It’s normal that it will take time because you need to learn about everyone, what they can do and what they like to do in games. They are all top players, so it’s good to play with them, I take pleasure from it. I also use it to help me improve as a player. Then as a person also, you take more experience from it.

“As its new faces we need time to get to know everybody, not only on the pitch, it’s important to know about them off the pitch too. I think we’re in a good position at the moment.”

And how much reassurance has it given the defenders having Martin Dúbravka in goal?

“It’s top, to have a top, top keeper at this level, it really helps with confidence. I’m very happy to have him. We also speak a lot on the pitch and around the building. It’s positive. He has the experience, he’s played a lot of games, a lot of seasons in the Premier League so full respect for that. He’s very important for the team and also for the backline, definitely.”
