After signing for the Clarets just six days ago, Marcus Edwards marked his debut for the Club with the winning goal against Southampton in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round on Saturday and the 26-year-old admitted it was 'the stuff of dreams'.

The forward was introduced off the bench in the second-half with the cup tie still goalless and with 13 minutes left to play, Edwards struck home the winner in front of the away support to book Burnley's place in the fifth round of the competition.

Speaking post-match at St Mary's, Edwards said: "It feels amazing. I'm buzzing to make my debut and it's an amazing feeling to score the winning goal for the Club.

"You almost dream about that sort of stuff, coming on for your debut and scoring the winning goal, it feels so good and I'm really pleased to get off the mark."

Edwards' winner fell kindly from a Hannibal pass in front of the away supporters and the wideman was grateful for their support and knew there was only one place he was heading to celebrate.

"I thought he (Hannibal) was going to shoot at first, then I realised he was going to pass and he did, then I took a touch, shot and it found the back of the net.

"It felt great to celebrate in front of the fans, I could feel their energy and they were already supporting us, I knew as soon as it went in I was heading over to them."

The Clarets could have hit the back of the net on a handful of occasions, with Manuel Benson, Jeremy Sarmiento and Ashley Barnes all coming close, in what Edwards described as a 'strong' display against the Premier League opposition.

"It was a strong performance from us today, I thought we created a lot of chances, defended really well and we could have won by more goals, so overall it was a good performance from us.

"They're a Premier League team with plenty of talented players, but I thought we more than matched them. Now all focus turns to Wednesday.

"It's nothing I'm not used to, playing two games in a few days. We will head home, rest & recover and then get ready for Wednesday night."
