Sean Dyche was happy with the latest stage of the Clarets’ build-up as his side secured a second warm-up win in four days.
Burnley followed up a weekend victory over Oldham with a 1-0 success against newly-promoted Championship outfit Blackpool.
Defender Bobby Thomas got the winner with his first senior goal a quarter of an hour from the end.
And there was also another clean sheet with summer signing Wayne Hennessey claiming credit for two thirds of it on his Burnley bow following Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s loan move to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the day.
“We like Bailey and we think he’s producing and improving but we still think he needs more regular first-team football,” said Burnley boss Dyche, who sent on Will Norris for the final 25 minutes of goalkeeping duty at Bloomfield Road.
“With Wayne coming in, he’s an experienced pro and he gets it and I think he enjoyed being around the group, just to get that first feel.
“There were a number of productive performances tonight.
“We are still looking at options as well, to see one or two we can bring in, but you can see players looking fit and there’s a nice sharpness to them.”
The Clarets’ squad is not yet complete but there was more game-time for all those fit and available in an entertaining game enjoyed by more than 1,000 Clarets’ fans.
“We mixed the side a bit again but there was a good attitude from the start,” added Dyche.
“We looked fresh and we looked at it and I was really pleased overall.
“There was a real good energy and tempo to our play. We need to sharpen up a little bit with our chances because we created enough tonight but there was a real good feel to us.
“We want games that feel like that because it certainly did feel like a real game and yet again there was a nice atmosphere with fans in the stadium.
“It all adds to it and the build-up to the season.”
While Chris Wood is still absent on international duty – needing a win over Romania on Wednesday morning to help New Zealand reach the quarter-finals of the Olympic football tournament – Matej Vydra is back at the Barnfield training centre.
And Dyche expects him back challenging for a place before long following his post-Euro 2020 finals break.
“He will do a few tough days just to bring him up to speed,” said Dyche.
“He’s pretty fit because he had a period with the Czech team so we hope to get him up to speed quite quickly.”
