Burnley Football Club are pleased to be trialling SMASHED range of alcohol-free drinks at the Clarets upcoming home games against Aston Villa and Newcastle.
The range, made by company Drynks, are brewed using time honoured methods to produce top-class, full-strength beer and cider. Drynks then carefully and gently remove the alcohol with a unique Cool Vacuum Distillation process, with the pioneering process resulting in a drink that tastes as good as its alcoholic original and that is truly alcohol free at 0.05% or below.
The Club will be stocking both the SMASHED lager and cider in all concourses and hospitality areas at Turf Moor for both home games, with the aim of offering supporters more options on a matchday. Should the range prove popular there is potential for the beverages to be introduced on a permanent basis.
As a forever forward-thinking organisation, Burnley FC have been keen to gather feedback from supporters on a range of aspects including a matchday, to work collaboratively to introduce innovative ideas and increase fan experience.
In February, the Club introduced Clarets View, a fan feedback initiative and the first survey covered the match experience at the stadium.
On this survey, a supporter raised the idea to, “stock 0% beers and ciders so people driving can drink and drive safely” and another asked for “more options for vegetarians and dietary requirements”. Therefore, we’re pleased to introduce the SMASHED range to Turf Moor.
Furthermore, on a subsequent sustainability survey, 74% of respondents rated the matchday experience as a 2 or 3 out of 5 when it came to sustainability. Meanwhile, 61% said they would like to see an improvement in concourse options.
This news comes just weeks after the Clarets introduced a new scheme to remove thousands of single use plastic cups from the stadium, in an effort to operate in a more sustainable manner and reduce its environmental impact. Brewing alcohol free drinks since 2017, Drynks lager is vegan and made from real British beer, delivering a clean taste with a hint of barley malt, complex aromatic floral notes, and a milk hoppy bitterness.
The company describe their crisp and lightly carbonated cider as pure refreshment, with a perfect balance of sharpness, sweetness, and bite. A golden, slightly opaque sparkling liquid, with a fresh, inviting aroma of English apples, the cider is also vegan and gluten free.
