15/03/2014 – Burnley 2 – 1 Leeds United (Turf Moor)
Burnley came from a goal down to claim all three points against Leeds at Turf Moor, with Scott Arfield's 67th minute strike proving to be the winning goal, as the Clarets strengthened their grip on the automatic promotion places.
United forward Ross McCormack gave the visitors the lead with a header just before the half-hour mark in Lancashire, but the Clarets levelled before half-time through Jason Pearce's own goal.
The hosts clinched the winner in the second-half, when Arfield met and hammered home Ben Mee's cross to seal the victory.
Leeds started brightly and had an early opportunity when striker Matt Smith was denied by the hands of Tom Heaton, before McCormack raced clear on goal, but could only strike the inside of the post.
However, just past the midway mark of the first-half, United took the lead through McCormack. Smith flicked on Connor Wickham's throw-in, which fell kindly to McCormack to head home past Heaton.
The Clarets looked to respond through efforts from Ross Wallace and David Jones, but their equaliser came just before the break as Pearce's attempt to deal with Kieran Trippier's cross ended up in the back of his own net.
With the teams level at the break, Leeds came out on the front foot in the second-half and had chances through Alex Mowatt's strike, before Smith struck over the target.
However, with just over an hour played at the Turf, Burnley took the lead when Arfield saw his first effort blocked, before firing home the rebound to give the hosts the advantage.
In a tight contest, there was a chance for United to equalise late on when Luke Murphy's teasing corner narrowly missed the heads of Smith and Pearce inside the box.
