Midfielder looks ahead to Monday's clash with United

Josh Cullen insists he and the team will approach Monday night's meeting with Leeds United the same as every other opponent, but understands the outside noise and build-up that comes with a game like this.

Burnley host Leeds at Turf Moor following an astounding 5-0 win at Plymouth on Wednesday night and the Ireland star says he and the team have a 'job to do' as they prepare to face the league leaders.

Just three points separate the two sides in the Sky Bet Championship table and Cullen knows it will be a challenge, but it's one he and his teammates are relishing.

Speaking to Clarets+ on Friday afternoon, the 28-year-old said: "We're looking forward to it, obviously it's a big game. Leeds are a very good side and they are right up there for a reason.

"We know it's going to be a challenge, but I'm sure they feel the same way coming up. They know they are also going to have to be at it, as well as us.

"I know the fans and everyone around it is looking forward to it and I understand that side of it, but as players we have a job to do on Monday night and it's no more important that Wednesday night at Plymouth was.

"We're approaching it like we do every game, we know it's going to be tough and a challenge for ourselves, but we're looking forward to it and we're confident."

Wednesday night saw Cullen grab his first goal of the season and Burnley's fifth goal of the night against Argyle and the midfielder was delighted to get off the mark.

"It's important in all successful teams that goals come from all areas, so it was important to chip in with one on Wednesday. I know I haven't been prolific as such, but I like to try chip in where I can and help the team.

"Hopefully, now I can get a couple more between now and the end of the season to help the team out and contribute to our aim."

Following his goal, Cullen put the ball under his shirt, which was a dedication to the baby him and his wife are expecting this summer.

"It was something me and the wife had spoken about for when I did score, to dedicate it to the little one on the way. So, that was a nice moment. But yeah a brilliant night all round for everyone."
