After lifting the Championship title at Turf Moor on the final day of the 2022/23 season, Ashley Barnes and Jay Rodriguez were quick to praise the fans that came out to see the 3-0 victory over Cardiff City.
Barnes - who netted in his final game for the Club today - reflected on the season by comparing the fans impact to the previous promotion campaign of 2015/16.
“Today’s meant a lot, from what me and the lads that are still here went through last season, to do it in the style we have and to go up as Champions is amazing.
“It’s for the fans, we’ve sent them home happy and ready for the Premier League next year and last time we did it [promotion] the fans came out in their numbers and hopefully it’ll be exactly the same tomorrow.
“This club is like family for me, ten years ago I joined, and it’s been incredible, I cannot speak highly enough of this club and everyone that is associated with this club.
“It’ll take time for this to properly sink in, for me it just felt like another day at the office, but in the next few weeks I’ll reflect on this for sure.”
Burnley-born forward Rodriguez has been a part of many successes alongside Barnes, playing with his fellow striker for six years since re-joining the club.
And he was full of praise for the outgoing Clarets star when speaking after the full time whistle.
“He’s a legend and you don’t use that word often, but he is an actual legend.
“I’ve learned a lot from him as a footballer, he’s an unbelievably talented player, but the love he gets from everyone is nothing less than he deserves, he is an absolute gent and I wish him all the best.
“It doesn’t get much better than this, this is what dreams are made of and where hard work and dedication gets you.
“You have to aim as high as you can and to do what we’ve done is incredible, I’m trying to absorb every moment and appreciate it, because days like this don’t happen too often.
“This moment is surreal and something I’ll never forget in my life, the heartache of last year hurt us and to do what we’ve done this season is incredible.”
