Burnley Football Club can confirm the signing of Hamzat Balogun, who joins our U21s squad on a contract until the summer of 2025.
Balogun has spent time on trial with the young Clarets and featured off the bench in their Professional Development League victory over Bristol City earlier this month.
“I feel happy and I can’t wait to get going,” he said.
“My aim is to work my way into the team and play as much as possible. I’ve not had much game time in the past few months, so I’ll need to put in a foundation to build off.
“The team play good football and I like the patterns of play. In my position they like to get the full backs involved as well.
“It’s a good bunch of lads and I get on well with them.”
Originally from Manchester, Balogun joined Manchester United at pre-academy level and progressed his way through to their U16s.
The 19-year-old then signed scholarship terms with Watford, before penning his first professional contract with the Hornets last summer.
Although primarily a right-back, the teenager also has experience at left-back, in midfield and on both flanks.
As part of his development, Balogun spent time on loan at Bedford Town last season.
