Burnley FC Women are delighted to announce defender Alethea Paul has been named as the new captain of the Club.
Paul joined the Clarets in the summer from Sheffield United and will now lead the side out on a permanent basis.
Upon being named as the new captain, Paul said: “It's a very proud moment to be named Club captain for the upcoming season.
"I have really enjoyed my time so far with the club and it's an honour to lead this great group of women!"
Manager Rebecca Sawiuk brought Paul to the Club in the summer, and couldn't be happier with her new captain.
She added: "Since my arrival Thea and I have got on really well, she has high personal and professional standards and is a highly respected member of the group here.
"Thea has a wealth of football experience, she is calm and composed under pressure and has the ability to 'think football' and problem solve.
"These are the skills we will need this season to succeed on and off the pitch.
"During pre-season Thea has already started to show her leadership and social skills and with this announcement, I think we will see her really grow and develop day by day and this is a really proud moment in her career."
