Burnley FC Women will return to league action on Sunday, when they travel to Jericho Lane Sports Hub to take on Liverpool Feds (3pm KO).
This game, against last season’s ninth placed side Feds, will open the Claret Women’s FA Women’s National League North campaign.
The last time the Clarets faced the Liverpool-based team was in a historic moment for women’s football at the Club.
In Burnley FC Women’s first game at Turf Moor, the then Jay Bradford-led team battled to a 2-1 victory in front of 2,987 fans, with Evie Priestley scoring after Katie Thomas netted for the visitors, before Courtney Willis bagged the winner five minutes from time.
The Claret Women have enjoyed a busy summer off the field, with Rebecca Sawiuk appointed as the new manager, and a number of players coming into the Club.

Defender Alethea Paul and midfielder Rhema Lord-Mears both joined after spells at Sheffield United, and Isabella Reidford came in on a dual-registration agreement from Manchester United.
20-year-old Maria Francis-Jones was brought in from Manchester City and Brenna McPartlan, who has experience in the USA, was signed from Sunderland AFC.
Defender Mikayla Wildgoose, who featured against the Clarets last season for Loughborough Lightning, joined from Birmingham and Kirstie Levell came in from FA Women’s Super League side Leicester City.
This game will mark the beginning of a new era for the Clarets with new faces on the pitch and off the pitch, following the appointment of Sawiuk.
Burnley were on the winning side in all three of their games against Feds last season, with a 2-1 Turf Moor win, alongside a 7-0 away league victory and 5-1 FA Women’s National League Cup success, also away from home.

Feds survived their first season following promotion into the FA Women’s National League North, under the tutelage of manager Leanne Duffy, finishing ninth in the table on 24 points, which in the end was eight points above the drop zone.
They have also retained most of their squad from the previous campaign with top scorer Paige Cole and Manager’s Player of the Season Rosie Kinvig-Wardale both still with the Club, whereas Lauren Sharples and Jaimie Martin have left to pursue opportunities in America.
Fans will be able to attend the game at Jericho Lane Sports Hub (L17 5AL) and tickets will cost £5 for Adults and £3 for Concessions, with U16s able to attend the game for free.
