Nine players from the Clarets academy are currently out on loan across the Football League & non-league pyramid.
Defender Bobby Thomas was the headline-maker this week, picking up two wins with Barnsley – and getting an assist – as they earned six vital points in the race for promotion in Sky Bet League One.
Here’s a round-up of how all nine loanees fared with their respective Clubs over the last week.
Bobby Thomas (Barnsley)
Centre back Thomas has been at Burnley since 2017, and joined the Reds in the January transfer window until the end of the campaign.

In the week just gone, he played 180 minutes across a 3-1 win at home against Portsmouth on Tuesday night and a 3-0 win against Plymouth Argyle at Oakwell on Saturday.
Against Argyle, Thomas provided the assist for the Tykes’ second goal. Michael Duff’s side are now 4th, just eight points off the automatic promotion spots with two games in hand on both 3rd-placed Ipswich Town & Plymouth themselves in 2nd.

Dane McCullough (Hyde United)
In the Northern Premier League’s Premier Division, Northern Ireland youth international McCullough is also chasing promotion with Hyde.

The full-back, who has been a Claret since August 2020, though suffered a defeat with the Tigers on Saturday as they lost out 1-0 at Radcliffe. Hyde remain 2nd in the table and this weekend face table-toppers South Shields.

Finn Armstrong (Curzon Ashton)
Fellow full-back Armstrong has been in the academy here at Burnley since he was 12, and is out on loan a tier higher with Curzon in the Vanarama National League North until the end of the season.
The Nash saw Tuesday’s scheduled trip to Darlington postponed due to a frozen pitch, but returned to action on Saturday with a 3-1 win at home against Brackley Town. Armstrong came on at 81 minutes in that victory.

Harry Moss (Padiham)
The youngest of the nine, second-year scholar Moss extended his stay at Padiham until the end of the season last Tuesday. He remains eligible to play for the Clarets’ U18s & U21s during the loan.

The Storks didn’t have a game over the last seven days, but now have four to come before the month is out.

Joe McGlynn (Kidderminster Harriers)
Striker McGlynn, like Armstrong, has been a Claret since he was 12. The Scotland youth international is also out on loan in the Vanarama National League North until the end of the campaign with Kidderminster.
Currently recovering from an injury however, McGlynn wasn’t involved in the Harriers’ 2-0 defeat at Chester on Tuesday night or their 1-1 draw at home against King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.

Lukas Jensen (Accrington Stanley)
Danishman Jensen’s run of consecutive games between the sticks for loan Club Accrington came to an end on Saturday as he missed their 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic through suspension.

The goalkeeper had been sent off late on in a 3-0 defeat at Ipswich Town on Tuesday night, and Stanley’s appeal against the dismissal – and subsequent one-match ban -was unsuccessful. He will however be back in contention for the Reds’ two home games this week. Jensen has been at Burnley since 2019.
This week’s game(s): TUE – Portsmouth (H) & SAT – Milton Keynes Dons (H) 
Michael Mellon (Morecambe) 
Scotland youth international Mellon has been a Claret since he was 15, and his loan at Morecambe is set to run until the end of the season. 
The striker is currently out of action with an injury, and talks remain ongoing about the loan arrangement with the Shrimps. He missed their 1-1 draw at Cambridge United and 3-1 defeat at Shrewsbury Town last week.

Owen Dodgson (Rochdale)
A league below, full-back Dodgson is attempting to help Rochdale stave off relegation.

The defender, who has been at Burnley since the summer of 2020, has been ever-present for Dale since he joined them in January. That record continued on Saturday, though Jim Bentley’s side lost 1-0 at Grimsby Town. They are five points adrift at the time of writing at the bottom of Sky Bet League Two. 
This week’s game(s): SAT – Swindon Town (H)
Sam Waller (Lancaster City)
‘Keeper Waller, who has been a Claret since he was 12, extended his loan at Lancaster until the end of the campaign last Tuesday.
That night, the Dolly Blues were set for a trip to Liversedge until the game got called off courtesy of a frozen pitch. Come Saturday when they returned to action, Waller and City were beaten 2-1 at Nantwich Town, their first loss in five.
