The Academy schedule has followed the men’s first team calendar, with the last two weeks being an international window.

Four of our young Clarets have been away with their countries, and it’s been great to see a number of achievements along the way.

Luca Scanlon (Gibraltar)

Despite still being just 16 years of age, Luca Scanlon has been with the Gibraltar senior squad once more.

Scott Wiseman’s side contested a two-legged UEFA Nations League play-off with Latvia, and Scanlon was an unused substitute in the home leg.

The winger then came on as a 73rd-minute substitute in front of more than 5,000 fans in Riga, earning his second cap.

Kian McMahon-Brown (Republic of Ireland U19s)

Kian McMahon-Brown has stepped up to the U19s group for the first time, taking part in three qualifiers for the 2027 Under-19 EURO Championships.

The striker played the entirety of a 1-1 draw with Poland before scoring against both Scotland and Italy.

That goal against the Italians ensured their progression to the next round of qualifiers, with Scotland beating Poland 3-0 at the same time.

Troy Savage (Northern Ireland U19s)

With UEFA changing the qualifying format for the U19 Euros, Northern Ireland had two different U19s squads playing different fixtures in this international window.

Troy Savage was part of the group involved in the EURO 2027 qualifiers, and the midfielder captained his country in both games.

After a 2-1 victory over Azerbaijan, the boys in green played out a goalless draw with Lithuania that means they will remain in Group B for the next round of qualifiers in the Autumn.

Glen Ilunga (Republic of Ireland U17s)

U16 defender Glen Ilunga, who has featured for Burnley U21s this season, earned his first Republic of Ireland call-up at U17 level.

They had three UEFA European U17 Championship qualifiers, and Ilunga was an unused substitute in a 3-0 victory over Poland and a 2-0 defeat to Croatia.

Then came a big 7-0 victory over Slovakia in which Glen came on as a 77th-minute substitute, and the ROI have now qualified for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
