Burnley Football Club are delighted to confirm that striker Halil Dervişoğlu has joined on a season-long loan from Brentford.
The 22-year-old forward rose through Sparta Rotterdam academy ranks, going on to make 60 appearances for the first team, before a move to the Bees in the summer of 2019.
Dervişoğlu has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first with FC Twente in the Eredivisie and then a season and a half in the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray.
The Rotterdam-born attacker was eligible to play for either Netherlands or Turkey, choosing the latter. Dervişoğlu represented Turkey from U19-U21 level, before receiving his first call-up to the senior set-up in May 2021 and then being named in the Euro 2020 squad, now with six goals in 13 caps.
Dervişoğlu said: “I’m very happy to be here and excited. It’s a big club and I have had a very warm welcome from everybody.
“I spoke with the manager, and he told me about the project here, I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Manager Vincent Kompany said: “We would like to thank Brentford for allowing us take Halil on loan for the season.
“He’s a naturally gifted Turkish international, who has an instinct to score goals and will give his all to help the team this season.”
