Obafemi joined the Clarets on loan from Swansea City in January 2023, with the move made permanent that summer. Born in Dublin to Nigerian parents and raised in London, the striker came through the academy at Southampton, where he made his Premier League debut in January 2018 - becoming the first player born in the 2000s to appear in the competition - and later became the youngest Irish player to score in the division. After joining Swansea in 2021 he rediscovered his scoring touch with 15 goals across 52 games, earning his move to Turf Moor. Injuries and limited opportunities restricted his impact at Burnley, and he spent time on loan at Millwall and Plymouth Argyle. A Republic of Ireland international, Obafemi made his senior debut in 2018 and scored his first goal against Scotland in 2022.
