Anass Zaroury faced the media ahead of the Clarets final game of the season which will see Cardiff City visit Lancashire on Bank holiday Monday.
The Championship trophy lift will grace Turf Moor following the final whistle against the Bluebirds and Zaroury can't wait for the occasion to celebrate with the fans both on the day and at Tuesday's town centre Champions Parade.
“I’m really looking forward to it because it’s the last game at home and after the game we will celebrate with the with the cup - so we’re really looking forward to this last game.”
“Of course, we were waiting for it the whole season [to celebrate with the trophy]. We really wanted to make this happen, we did it so we’re all proud. It’s really good to close the season.”
Looking back on his campaign, the winger who joined Burnley in August 2022, is pleased with the form and progress he has shown however is striving to achieve more.
“I’m really thankful for the opportunities I got this season. It’s also up to me to show what I’m capable of doing on the pitch. I think I did a good job, but we can all do better so I’m ready for next season.”
The Clarets title winning Championship campaign saw promotion secured in April and Zaroury is excited for the challenge of competing in the Premier League.
“It’s a big dream, not only for me, but every football player wants to play in the biggest league and for me and I think for everyone the Premier League is the best competition. So, I will have to work really hard but I’m ready for it.
“I’m really confident [in the team's ability]. I think as long as we give everything in training and do what we are asked of, I think that will bring us far in the competition. I think we have to concentrate and be focussed on what we do between us and then try to deliver in the best way possible on the pitch.”
The 22-year-old has scored eleven goals in all competitions this season, and is keen to keep working hard to increase his goals and assists tally.
“Yes I just started my career but it’s by best season so far, but I’m working harder because I know I could get more goals. It’s also a point every winger, attacker, is looking for so I’m hoping for more next season.”
November saw Zaroury make history with the Morocco national squad, who reached the sem-final of the World Cup in Qatar, for the first time in the country's history and it's an experience the young player will never forget.
“It’s also like a dream that came true, to represent the country of your parents or your own country in the biggest competition in the world, the World Cup. I was also really thankful for the opportunity I got from the manager. It’s a moment where you are with big players, you take a lot of experience from it, and you look up to them and try to do the same. It was a big lesson to learn from for me and I really enjoyed it.
“These are the players who we were looking to on TV when we were younger and to have the opportunity to be against them on the pitch and see them like normal people its really a good thing for young players like me.”
Finally, Zaroury was full of praise for his teammates when asked about his experience of working alongside Nathan Tella and Ashley Barnes this season.
“I’m really happy to have spent this season with him [Nathan Tella]. He’s a big player and I also learnt a lot of things from him. For me, like for all the fans, it’s been really good and lovely to see him playing with us.
“Of course, he scored 19 goals that’s really good. Off the pitch he’s also a lovely guy, we laughed the whole season together. It was a really good season to spend with him.
“I call him [Ashley Barnes] legend and I’m not the only one! What he’s brought to us this season, in the beginning it was a little bit difficult for him because he was not playing but he showed us that side that’s he’s patient and waiting for his moment and then he was like this is it on the biggest games. He did a really god job on and off the pitch, teaching a lot of things to me in training, all the experience he got in his career. I think he played a big, big part for us this season.”
