Following on from lifting the Lancashire FA Women’s Senior Cup on Wednesday night, Burnley FC Women return to league action this Sunday – 16th April – with a trip to The Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion (2pm KO).
Millie Ravening & Sarah Greenhalgh both hit hat-tricks against Darwen FC Ladies in the cup final, with Courtney Willis (2) & Aimee Kelly coming off the bench in the second half and also getting on the scoresheet.
Partnered with a clean sheet, a thumping 9-0 scoreline ensured that Jay Bradford’s side would become the first-ever holders of the LFA Women’s Senior Cup and also that they would lift a County Cup for the second season running.

Now, attention turns back to the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League North, where Burnley have three huge games remaining this term.
Currently 3rd, four points behind leaders Nottingham Forest with a game in hand, only a finish at the top of the tree would provide the Claret Women with the opportunity to go on and get promoted via the play-off final.
This Sunday’s trip to the Midlands provides Burnley’s last away game of the campaign with two home matches against Wolves (23rd April) & Liverpool Feds (30th April) still to come.
In the league, Bradford’s side have lost just once so far this season – away against leaders Forest earlier this month. That game is the only one which has seen the Clarets drop points though since a 2-2 draw with West Brom themselves back in October.

Coming from 1-0 down at the break to lead courtesy of goals from Ravening & defender Emma Taylor, the Baggies would hit back with the last kick of the game deep into added time to earn a point.
The good omens return with a nod towards last season’s away game against the Baggies however as, almost a year ago to the day, Burnley ran out 8-0 winners.
As she did in midweek, Ravening struck a hat-trick that afternoon in the Midlands, with five others also getting in on the act including Evie Priestley & Lizzie Hamer.
Coincidentally, as it is this season, that also proved Burnley’s last away trip of the campaign. Burnley would go on to finish 4th while West Brom ended in 8th.

This term, while the Clarets are chasing down 2nd-placed Wolves and leaders Forest, the Baggies sit 10th.  Three points above the relegation zone, Jenny Sugarman’s side have four league games left to play this term, two more than Boldmere St Michaels directly beneath the dotted line.
If you’re making the trip on Sunday, tickets cost £5 for adults & £1 for U18s. They can be bought HERE.
