Defender taking the positives from Reading trip

Ameen Al-Dakhil made his third league start for the Clarets on Saturday afternoon, in the Lancashire side's goalless draw with Reading.

Speaking after the game the defender was pleased to maintain a clean sheet in the contest but felt the visitors were unlucky to despite creating chances not find themselves on the scoresheet on the day.

“I think we did a great job; we knew that it was not going to be an easy game, but I think we did well. We kept the ball, we had chances to score, unfortunate that we didn’t score today but its ok we just keep going and we go on Tuesday again.

“Yeah, of course [I'm happy to keep a clean sheet]. I think for a defender its amazing, it’s your job but of course if you don’t score there’s just a little piece of doubt, that you’re not that happy, but it’s still ok for us, it’s a good point.”

It's been just over a week since Burnley clinched promotion to the Premier League, however Al-Dakhil doesn't believe the talk surrounding the squad's points tally and aim of being crowned champions, plays on anyone's mind.

“No of course not, I think everyone is mentally very good, focussed, we try to go all the way. We try to keep every game 100%, we go all in. It’s nice to know that you’re already promoted, maybe being champions, so I think it’s really nice, but we have to take every game seriously and go all in.”

Back in the starting 11 after not featuring against Sheffield United, Al-Dakhil was also happy to gain from the experience of more game time.

“Yes it’s a good feeling to get the confidence of the coach, it’s really nice. For a young player it’s nice to play a lot, keep learning and yeah doing my job so that’s real nice.”

The point sees the Clarets extend their unbeaten run to 21 in the league.

“It’s a really nice stat, so we try to keep going and go higher and go all the way.”

With a final word left to the 2,100 travelling Clarets who made the trip to Berkshire.

“Every time, every single game, if it’s at home, away, they [the fans] are always there. They try to push us, and we need that, we need that push, so it’s really nice.”
