Burnley Women play their first away fixture of the 2024/25 season on Sunday as they travel to Walshes Meadow to take on Stourbridge Women.
The game comes on the back of the Clarets’ convincing 9-0 opening weekend victory over Hull City Ladies at Nelson.
Eight summer additions made their club debuts against the Tigresses and four of those scored their first goals in Claudia Walker, Charley Docherty, Grace Palmer, and Amelia Hazard.
With seven different Clarets finding their way onto the scoresheet, the victory should act as a real springboard for the season to come.
Burnley’s last trip to Stourbridge came in March of this year, when Rebecca Sawiuk’s side won 4-0.
A Laura Elford brace was accompanied by further strikes from Leah Embley and Millie Ravening in what turned out to be a comfortable victory.
Incidentally, the ‘Glass Girls’ suffered defeat by the same margin last Sunday as they started their campaign with a trip to local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Goals from Amber Hughes and Charlotte Greengrass in the opening 15 minutes took the sting out of the game and Wolves were able to put the cherry on top with further strikes from Tammi George and Ania Denham.
It was new manager Adrian Clements’ first game in charge of Stourbridge, and he will be hoping to improve on their 10th place finish last campaign.
Supporters wishing to make the trip to watch the game should be advised that the venue has changed from the War Memorial Athletic Ground to Walshes Meadow (DY13 0AA). Kick-off is 2pm.
Stourbridge encourage fans to purchase tickets in advance of the day online HERE. There is, however, the option to purchase at the turnstiles with cash or card at the same price of £7 for adults, £5 for senior citizens (65+) and £5 for juniors (13-17).
Tickets for juniors aged 6-12 are £3, and they must be accompanied by an adult.
If you can’t make it in person, there will be a livestream of the match on the official Burnley Football Club YouTube channel and Clarets+.
