Burnley FC Women travel to the Emerys Stadium on Sunday afternoon – 12th March – to take on Stoke City in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League (2pm KO).
The game in the Potteries is Jay Bradford’s side’s only away game in a hectic March, which began last weekend with a thumping 5-1 win at home against Boldmere St Michaels.
As well as an own goal netted by Boldmere’s Jess Keeling, Millie Ravening and Dom Cooper were on the scoresheet against the Mikes along with Laura Elford, who netted a brace.
Those three points, sealing Burnley’s fourth win in a row, saw them move up to 2nd in the table, leapfrogging Wolves by a two-point margin.
Still unbeaten in the league this season so far, the Claret Women now trail leaders Nottingham Forest by three points, though have a game in hand on the Reds to come later this month.
This weekend’s opponents Stoke sit 6th, comfortably in mid-table with 20 points to their name, 10 more than Boldmere in the relegation zone and 14 less than the Clarets in 2nd.
The Potters secured a first win in three last time out, winning 3-0 at home against bottom of the table Loughborough Lighting. Roisin Kivel, Nuala Miszkiel & Hollie Gibson all grabbed goals in that one.
Warren Holmes’ side also provided a tough test for Burnley in August’s reverse fixture at the County Ground, Leyland. Millie Ravening’s first half penalty proved the difference between the two sides come the full-time whistle in the Claret Women’s first home game of the season.
This Sunday, entry at the Emerys Stadium (ST6 1QF) will cost £3 for adults & £1 for concessions.
