Marking the last of three away games in seven days, Burnley FC Women travel to Stoke City on Easter Sunday – 9th April – for a re-arranged game in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League (2pm KO).
The trip to the Potteries was initially scheduled to take place last month, but got postponed on the morning of the game due to snowfall the night prior.
Now, Jay Bradford’s side make the journey to the Emerys Stadium (ST6 1QF) on the back of a midweek win away at Huddersfield Town. First half goals from Lara Miller and Evie Priestley were enough to take all three points against the Terriers, who scored a late consolation through Yasmin Mason with virtually the last kick of the game.
Penultimate game of campaign sees Claret Women host Wolves at Anchor Ground in crunch clash at top of table
That win leaves the Claret Women 2nd in the standings, seven points behind leaders Nottingham Forest who have played two games more, and two points ahead of Wolves in 3rd who have played a game less.
Burnley themselves have four league games remaining this term, starting on Sunday, plus the final of the Lancashire FA Women’s Senior Cup on Wednesday evening (12th April) against Darwen FC Ladies.
This weekend’s opponents Stoke meanwhile play out their penultimate home game of the campaign. They sit 6th and look all but assured of a comfortable mid-table finish with three matches remaining.
The Potters, headed up by Lou Roberts, have had a busy seven days themselves. Narrowly beaten 3-2 by West Brom at the Bet365 Stadium last Sunday, City then lifted their respective County Cup on Tuesday evening with a victory on penalties against Sporting Khalsa following a 3-3 draw in 90 minutes.
Sunday will see the Potters look for a first league win in three, with the Clarets looking to make it a double over their opponents this season having won 1-0 at the County Ground in Leyland when the pair faced off in August.
Millie Ravening’s penalty in the first half that afternoon was enough to earn Burnley three points in what was a first home game of the season.
Captain Lauren Bracewell also saved a spot kick at the other end in the second half.
Entry at the Emerys Stadium on Easter Sunday will cost £3 for adults & £1 for concessions. If you’re unable to make the trip, make sure to follow along with our coverage on Twitter - @BurnleyFCWomen – and other social channels (@BurnleyOfficial).
