WOMEN’S TEAM TO FINISH SEASON AT TURF MOOR! - Image 1

Burnley FC Women are on the road this weekend, travelling to Grange Park to take on Nottingham Forest Women in the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League.

Following back-to-back cup games, the Clarets are aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the league season.

Rebecca Sawiuk’s team have won eight and drawn two of their 10 matches to date, leaving them second in the table.

Last weekend they ran out 6-0 winners over AFC Fylde in the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Women’s Senior Cup, courtesy of goals from Amaya, Dom Cooper, Laura Elford, Evie Priestley and a Brenna Mcpartlan brace.

Their last league outing was a 2-1 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers, in which Bella Reidford and Leah Embley were on target.

This weekend’s opponents Forest are two points and a place behind Burnley in the standings, although they have played a game more.

Carly Davies’ team are likely to be in a buoyant mood heading into this one, following a 2-1 victory over league leaders Newcastle United last weekend.

Burnley were victorious in the reverse fixture earlier this season, courtesy of a 4-2 scoreline. An eventful game at Leyland’s County Ground saw goals from Amaya and Mcpartlan and a Millie Ravening brace earn all three points.
