Burnley's U18s earned three points with a 4-0 victory against Coventry City in the Professional Development League on Saturday afternoon.
The Clarets were immediately on the front foot at the Burnley Training Centre as Ollie Sweeney found the first opportunity with a powerful strike from 20 yards out but the ball skimmed over the crossbar.
Vernon Masara then found the opener in the 24th minute, as Callum West perfectly timed a looped ball into the area where Masara took one touch straight past Luis Lines.
Rohan Vaughan soon followed on the scoresheet four minutes later, weaving his way into the box, leaving Tionne Critchlow-Woyo behind and superbly striking into the back of the net.
Tony Philliskirk was forced to make an early change, with Marley Leuluai being replaced by Dylan Sime.
Burnley continued their threatening ways in the second half as Murray Campbell confidently travelled down the pitch and tried his luck from the edge of the box, however his effort was denied when it slammed against the crossbar.
The Clarets displayed excellent skill once again when Jon Vilar Robinson sent a fantastic long ball to Masara, who entered the area and snuck a controlled low strike past Lines.
Young Clarets head to the capital
Sime took advantage of an opportunity when he picked up a loose ball within the box, and he took a shot on target from close-range but Lines did well to make the block.
Masara closed the scoring and bagged himself a hat-trick in the final moments of the match, when he used his superb speed to find his way into the area unmarked and pick out the bottom corner.
The victory follows Monday night’s 2-0 win at Queens Park Rangers in the FA Youth Cup.
