Burnley’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup journey continues with a trip to Women’s Super League side Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The Clarets have beaten Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Peterborough United to reach the fourth round of the competition, with the Red Devils expected to pose a real challenge.

That victory over Peterborough was Burnley’s last game before Christmas and it finished 7-0, although it was only 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Charlie Chadwick and Yana Daniëls.

Burnley put their foot on the accelerator after the break, with Millie Ravening, Charley Docherty and Emma Siddall all finding the net in addition to Claudia Walker’s brace.

Lou Roberts’ side have now won their last 12 matches in all competitions and returned to action last weekend, beating Middlesbrough 3-0 in the quarter finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

After Docherty broke the deadlock with an Olimpico early on, Chadwick netted her 15th and 16th goals of the season to book a semi-final trip to Plymouth Argyle in February.

The Adobe Women’s FA Cup has been fruitful for Burnley so far, with a combined aggregate score of 23-0 from three matches.

Manchester United Women are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions and currently sit 5th in the WSL table.

The Red Devils held 3rd-placed Arsenal to a goalless draw at Emirates Stadium last weekend and beat Tottenham Hotspur to progress to the Subway League Cup semi-finals before that.

Their Progress with Unity Stadium has proven to be somewhat of a fortress this season having lost just two of their 13 matches there in all competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.

Manager Marc Skinner has overseen the team for four and a half years, and one of his biggest achievements was winning the FA Cup in 2024.

The squad contains international players all over the pitch and was boosted by the arrival of Swedish striker Ellen Wangerheim on Friday morning.

The match is being played at the Progress with Unity Stadium in Leigh Sports Village (WN7 4JY) and kick-off is 1pm.
