Burnley Women play their penultimate game of the regular league season this weekend, with a trip to Hull City on the agenda.

The Clarets will be aiming for a 15th straight FAWNL Northern Premier Division victory and head into it on the back of a 2-0 win over Halifax last time out.

Hull City are 8th in the 12-team standings with 19 points to their name under the management of Chris Hames.

The Yorkshire outfit are winless in their last three, though, and suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Derby County the last time they took to the field.

How to watch

North Ferriby’s Versa Sportswear Stadium (HU14 3AB) is the venue, and tickets can be purchased in advance of matchday HERE at £6 for adults, £5 for concessions, and £1 for under 16s.

Hull advise that all categories will rise by £1 on matchday.

The opposition

Hull City Ladies were promoted to third-tier level at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Tigresses finished well clear of the relegation zone in 2024/25, having earned 22 points from the same number of matches.

This season has followed a similar pattern, with their 19 points to date coming from five wins and four draws.

A fair portion of those results came before the turn of the year, although the reverse fixture in Leyland wasn’t one of those occasions.

It finished 3-0 to the Clarets on that October day, with Yana Daniëls’ early strike being followed up by an own goal and a close-range finish from Charley Docherty early into the second half.

First team manager Chris Hames took on extra responsibility as Director of Women & Girls Football in January 2023.

Players to look out for include Hope Knight, who has managed an impressive 19 goals in 27 appearances this campaign, and captain Ellie Tanser.

What Ross Wallace said

“I’m looking forward to it.

“We’ve had a bit of a break and were able to give the girls a few days off, and it’s always good to have a mental break from football.

“They’ve been back in for a few days now and have been running hard, so will be ready for Sunday.

“Hull will want to be aggressive, and they have some decent players at the top end of the pitch, so we’ll have to be clean on the ball in the build-up.

“I’m probably boring everybody by saying this now, but we’ll just concentrate on us. If we can be a bit more ruthless at the top end, I’m quietly confident we can get a result.”
