Clarets take on Ewes in Mickleover

Burnley Women hit the road on Sunday, with three league points up for grabs against Derby County at their Don Amott Arena.

The Clarets’ fine form was extended to 12 straight league wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out, with Charlie Chadwick’s first-half strike the difference between the two teams.

Derby County are currently competing at the other end of the table, sitting three points above the relegation zone.

The Ewes have lost their last two matches but will be hoping to extract revenge on the Clarets, with Burnley winning the reverse fixture 2-0 at Turf Moor in November.

How to watch

The match will take place at the Don Amott Arena (DE3 9FB) and tickets can be purchased in advance of matchday HERE.

Adults are £5, while children (6-17 years) and concessions (66+) are £2.50. Children aged five and below go free.

The opposition

Derby County have been an ever present third tier side since the 2009/10 season.

Known as the Ewes, the team have fluctuated in league position during that time – finishing as high as 2nd in 2021/22.

They have claimed 15 points from their 18 league matches thus far, courtesy of four wins and three draws.

Two of those victories came in back-to-back games in September, and their last three points came away at Loughborough Lightning in January.

Manager Sam Griffiths has been in charge since 2018/19, having previously been an influential player for the team since 2009.

Players to look out for include top scorer Georgia Stevens, a forward who has managed six goals in 23 appearances this campaign.

Longest serving player Hannah Ward, who was previously a winger but now plays in defence and has made more than 300 Derby appearances, is the captain.

Millie Ravening was on target from the penalty spot in the aforementioned reverse fixture at Turf Moor, with a Lucy Jones own goal confirming the outcome 15 minutes from time.

"I'm looking forward to the game, and the girls are on a high from last week's win.

"It's going to be a tough game. Derby have obviously, results wise, probably not got the points they would have wanted, but watching them back they've got some players that can potentially hurt us.

"Training's been great this week and like what I've been saying for a few weeks now - it's about what we do.

"It's in our hands and if we're at it properly, we're very confident of getting results."
