Burnley Women will be aiming to make a positive start to their 2024/25 campaign when they play host to newly promoted Hull City Ladies on Sunday afternoon.
Last season saw Rebecca Sawiuk’s side come tantalisingly close to promotion, finishing second behind champions Newcastle United.
There will be plenty of new signings to look out for in the Clarets’ squad this weekend, with striker Claudia Walker, defender Jade Richards and forward Heidi Logan amongst those who could feature.
The last time Burnley met Hull was in April 2023 and it was a memorable occasion, with the Clarets beating their Humberside opponents by seven goals to nil.
That match all-but confirmed relegation for the Tigresses at the time but they have bounced back at the first time of asking after winning the FAWNL Division One North.
Both of those seasons came under the watch of Manager Chris Hames, who now moves into his third year in charge of Hull with confidence high.
Like Burnley, City have made several signings during the summer and share aspirations of doing well this season, so it promises to be an exciting season opener!
The game will take place at the home of Nelson Football Club, the Daisy Communications Arena (BB9 7BN). Kick-off is 2pm.
Supporters are more than welcome to come and show their support with tickets available on the gate.
Entry will be £5 for adults and £2 for juniors and payment can be made via cash or card.
There will also be a livestream of the match on the official Burnley Football Club YouTube channel and Clarets+.
