Claret Women host Town in first instalment of double home game week

Burnley FC Women look to continue their strong run of form with the visit of Brighouse Town to the County Ground, Leyland on Wednesday evening– 15th March – with a 7:45pm KO.

Jay Bradford’s side are nearing 12 months unbeaten in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League and come into this one on the back of a 5-1 victory over Boldmere St Michaels.

Laura Elford (2), Dom Cooper and Millie Ravening were all on target against the Mikes as the Claret Women cruised to victory 10 days ago.

Burnley were then scheduled to face Stoke City away from home last Sunday – 12th March – however that game was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Now, with others playing on Sunday while the Clarets didn’t, they sit 3rd in the table ahead of Wednesday’s game. Bradford’s side have a game in hand on Wolverhampton Wanderers who sit a place above them, and two games in hand on table toppers Nottingham Forest.

Wednesday’s opponents Brighouse head to Leyland with an impressive unbeaten run of their own, winning every one of their last six league games.

Their most recent victory came against AFC Fylde in a 5-0 win back on 26th February after, similarly to the Clarets, seeing their game against West Brom postponed over the weekend.

When the Claret Women made the trip to the Yorkshire Payments Stadium back in October, the points were shared in a 1-1 draw. Monique Watson gave the hosts the lead before Burnley levelled through Millie Ravening to earn a hard-fought point away from home.

This Wednesday at the County Ground, entry is free to all. If you can’t make it however, we’ll be streaming the game live on TikTok. Elsewhere, you can keep up to date with our coverage on Twitter @BurnleyFCWomen.
