Burnley FC Women make the trip to Yorkshire on Thursday night (April 14), taking on Huddersfield Town Women in the second of three consecutive away games.
With just three matches of the Northern Premier Division of FA Women’s National League campaign remaining, both sides are aiming to finish on a high with the Clarets still only having lost one game in 2022 as we approach mid-April.
Three points and a third successive victory were secured on the road last Sunday with a thumping 6-2 win at Loughborough Lightning Women, prolific striker Evie Priestley was amongst the scorers at the Loughborough University Stadium with a brace to move onto 20 goals for the season.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield got back to winning ways with a comprehensive 5-0 victory away against Hull City Ladies. Town midfielder Brittany Sanderson netted a brace on the day as her side earned a fourth win from their last five.
Those two results see the Terriers and the Clarets sitting fifth and sixth respectively, separated by just two points with 21 games played.
And though it is Glen Preston’s Huddersfield who are ahead in the table at the moment, Burnley did claim a resounding 4-0 win when the two teams met in September’s reverse league fixture.
Courtney Willis, Nic Worthington, Millie Ravening and Lizzy Hamer all grabbed a goal that day with captain Lauren Bracewell also earning her second clean sheet of the campaign at the other end.
Following Thursday night’s game, the Claret women travel to West Bromwich Albion (April 24) before rounding off their season at home to Middlesbrough on May 1.
The meeting with the Terriers meanwhile takes place at the Stafflex Arena within the Storthes Hall Complex, HD8 0WA, with a 7:45pm kick-off scheduled. Entry is £5, £3 and U18s are free.
