Trip to Sheffield up first for Matt Bee’s team
Burnley FC Women will return to league action on Sunday when the 2021/22 Northern Premier Division of The FA Women’s National League commences.
Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: “It’s great to be back in competitive action. We're looking forward to the game against Sheffield FC Women.
“We finished last season on a positive with a great Women’s FA Cup run. Now, it is about harnessing that energy and applying it to this new campaign.
“I’m happy with the work we have done over pre-season. The players have worked hard, we have a belief in what we do and we are ready.”
Earlier this month the side announced the signing of eight new players, bolstering the squad for the new season.
Opposition Sheffield FC Women have been a tier three side for a number of years so pose a big opening test for the clarets, who are looking forward to getting the league campaign underway.
“Sheffield will be a tough test. They are a well-established team in this league, and they will attack the game in a highly motivated way. We have to be prepared for that.”
The game will take place at The Home of Football Stadium, Sheffield Road, Dronfield, S18 2GD. KO 2pm.
Admission is £5 for adults, £2 for concessions, and you can pay on the gate.
