Head Coach Scott Parker admits although 'it should have been a more comfortable night' following a dominant performance against Plymouth on Tuesday evening, the Clarets chief had high praise for his team after the 1-0 win over Wayne Rooney's side.
Josh Brownhill's penalty in the first-half turned out to be the difference between the two sides and the hosts had a handful of opportunities to add more goals on the night, but Parker was very pleased with his team's first-half performance and to come away with the three points.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Parker reflected on the performance: “I think it’s fair to say it should have been more comfortable tonight. I thought we were exceptional in the first-half, we were every bit of the team I want us to be.
"It was arguably the best 45 minutes we’ve probably played in terms of having a real good structure about us and an understanding of where the ball needs to move.
“You probably need to come in 2 or 3-0 up. If that happens we would have been well worthy of that, but the Championship being the Championship, it’s definitely right to say the second-half changes a bit and we struggled in certain moments.
“It’s not me making excuses, but we had a quick turnaround and I felt we looked a little bit jaded in the second-half. At that point you just need to get out with three points.
“That was the big positive for me, coming out of here with three points and we move on."
Parker added: "There are still loads and loads of areas where we need to improve, but we’re nudging away and getting results.
“We have done remarkably well so far this season. From where we were and from what we are, as a young team that is developing, I am absolutely delighted with the group and the players. I see real improvements every week.”

Brownhill's goal was the midfielder's fourth of the campaign and Parker admits he was confident the 28-year-old would make no mistake from 12-yards.
“We were well worthy of at least 1-0 at half-time. We earned the right to get the penalty with our counter-positions and how well we were structured in that moment.
“I’ve seen Browny do that every day in training so I had real confidence in him stepping up and taking that penalty.”
Connor Roberts and Zian Flemming have both been absent for the last two fixtures, but Parker gave an update on their recovery and admits the pair are both close to a return to the squad.
“They were close. I’m hoping they will be back for the weekend and that would give us a bit more of a boost certainly.
“We could just do with a bit more with the quick turnarounds, fresher legs to freshen it up.
“It’s a young back four at this moment in time, we’ve got a right-back who is left-footed who should be a left centre-half or a left-back. Those boys are doing remarkably well.”
