Head Coach Scott Parker insists he and his side are 'ready' for Saturday's East Lancashire derby and he wants to make the supporters proud following the short trip to Blackburn.

The Clarets make the journey down the M65 this weekend in what will be the second derby of the season and the Burnley boss is hoping it can be another memorable visit, after winning the last four meetings at Ewood Park.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Parker said: "There's a massive focus on this game and what it means. Ever since I arrived, there were a lot of conversations about this game and what it means to the Club, the fans, the town and everyone associated.

"The first game was intense; you could feel it and I expected nothing less in a derby like this. I expect nothing less once again this weekend, with the magnitude of this game and what it means to this Club.

"We're ready for it. We're going there the best prepped we can be, to deliver a performance that can get us three points and make the supporters proud of this Club."

Clarets boss looks ahead to Pompey trip

Parker added: "The main focus for us is getting the win, as it is in every game, but we're under no illusions what this means to the group and we will be fully ready for that.

"It's important to be on the line but to not cross it, the fans, the players, staff, we all need to be responsible and enjoy it, but the most important thing for me is to put a performance in and come away victorious."

The Burnley chief also provided an update on the fitness of Aaron Ramsey and the recent return of striker Lyle Foster.

“Aaron's progressing. He’s still going to be a little bit away, he’s not imminent by any stretch, but he’s moving in the right direction and he’s on the grass. He’s headed that way.

“Lyle has been out for some time, so we need to tread carefully. He’s getting some good training into him, albeit not as much as we’d like just because of the sheer volume of games and training has been reduced because of that. But Lyle is in a good place and we’re going to need him along with all the other boys.”
