New signing settles in at the training ground

New recruit Oliver Sonne is getting to grips with his new club, taking to the training pitch with Scott Parker and his teammates.

The 24-year-old defender became the Clarets' first signing of the January transfer window on New Year's Eve and said it was the impressive training ground facilities and ambition of the Club that made it such an attractive move.

“There’s a lot of reasons I joined this football club. The big one is that it’s a massive club with great ambitions. I felt their interest already in the summer when they were asking for me and they came back in this window. I felt all the love and ambitions they have for me, and I checked into that.

“I see a place that has the best options for me to develop, facilities that are great, coaching staff that are amazing, players that are a high level and are ready to fight every day on the training pitch. I think that will be a really good factor for me to perform at a high level. I see an environment where I can develop as a person and as a player. The ambition is to go back up to the Premier League and I will fight to make that happen.”

Sonne was excited to get out on the training pitch and has given Burnley fans an insight into what type of player he is.

“I’m what you would call a modern full-back. I like to attack but also to fulfil my defensive duties. So, a little bit of both, but my mindset is more attacking wise.

“I love coming into the area and I hope that in the future I can get a few goals for the Burnley fans. I like to score goals and provide assists for my attackers.”

Whilst he's attacking minded on the pitch, off the pitch he describes himself as more of a 'chilled' guy, who likes drawing and being creative.

“I’m a really chilled guy and I like to go into some areas where I can really nerd about it! I like to nerd about coffee, I enjoy spending time making it when I come home from training, I have all the best gear in coffee. I also like to sometimes take time off and draw some tattoos and be creative. My partner and I have a dog as well.

“I did model for some time, and it was amazing. For me to get out into the world and try to do something else apart from football and meet new people and new industries. It helped me become an outgoing person and also helped me find out that it’s football that I love. The games and the atmosphere, I love it!”
