Goalkeeper Max Weiss described saving penalties to win a shoot-out as 'amazing' and was more than pleased to play his role in the Carabao Cup victory over Notts County on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old made two saves in the penalty shoot-out, which saw the Clarets book their place in the second round of the competition, with Kyle Walker hammering home the winning spot-kick.

Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Weiss discussed the win over the Magpies, his crucial penalty saves and the connection with the supporters chanting his name.

SHOOT-OUT HERO

"It's a great feeling for me personally and for the team. We just wanted to win this match today, whatever it took.

"Obviously this wasn't the way we wanted to get through, but the most important thing was getting into the next round.

"I just tried to play my part, my role is to stop the ball going into the net and luckily I could do that in the shoot-out and it was an amazing feeling for me."

MAGPIES TEST

"They were a good team, they tested us and came out battling, which is exactly what we expected.

"I thought we started strong, especially the first 20 minutes and we should have probably scored, then obviously we go behind just before half-time, so the message was just come out firing again and get an early goal, which Zian did thankfully.

"Then the game goes to penalties, you always have to be prepared for it and we did some work this week and analysis, so thankfully it paid off and we're through to the next round."
