Josh Laurent described his feelings as mixed following Saturday afternoon's goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers at Turf Moor.
Whilst disappointed the team couldn't find that ruthless edge in front of goal against the London side, he was keen to take the positives and said he will be encouraging the younger players in the side to continue to stick together and push on.
“My feelings are a bit mixed, probably mostly disappointed obviously we wanted to win. We dominated, we probably did everything apart from score and be a bit ruthless.
“First half we played some lovely stuff, got in a good few times and just didn’t quite get the last finish. Same in the second half. So disappointed but on the plus side another game unbeaten, keep the run going in a tough league, so we’ll keep pushing on.”
Scott Parker's men dominated possession and despite being on the front foot throughout and creating chances they just couldn't find that goal on the day.
“Yes, I think everything the Gaffer asked for we did up until the box we were perfect in that sense. We just couldn’t be ruthless in that last phase and probably towards the end maybe we were a bit sloppy, a bit tired and sort of needed a little bit of a boost so that’s something for us to look back on and work on.
“The Gaffer will be pushing us I’m sure of it and the boys will be working hard this week to keep nudging forward and keep getting better.”

What was the message from Head Coach Scott Parker at full-time with the team naturally frustrated not to take the three points?
“Exactly that frustration, everyone’s frustrated. He just said the same thing, everything he asked for, for us to be a dominant team, we were from minute one to the last minute it was just that final bit, to be ruthless.
“When you get the first goal you sort of bring them out a bit more. I think that was the biggest thing today, getting that first goal to bring them out and then we could really punish them, but we just couldn’t. We couldn’t get there but as I say that’s something for us to work on, look at and be better on.”
As an experienced player who knows the Championship well, what advice will 29-year-old Laurent be giving to his younger teammates?
“Stay patient, stay positive. You’ve got to look at the positives sometimes, it’s a demanding league, a very demanding league. We’ve played three games this week, there’s no given right to just go out there and win football matches, there’s a process, there’s work.
“As I say go back to the training ground, go back to working hard and try to nudge forward each week. It’s a demanding league, be frustrated, be disappointed but come Monday when we’re in again, back to work, keep pushing on, keep being positive, keep doing the right things. That’s the biggest thing I think just being 100% at it every single day and keep pushing along. The pressure, it’s a joy to have, it’s good pressure to have, embrace it and I think that’s what the boys are doing so we’ve just got to keep nudging along together. It’s a good group, we’ve got some good, experienced boys there with some young players, so it’s a good mix. We’ve got a top manager and top coaches, so we’ve just got to keep pushing and stick together.”
