Clarets boss reflects on draw with the R's

Head Coach Scott Parker expressed his frustration after drawing 0-0 with QPR on Saturday afternoon, but was pleased with the dominant performance his side put in over the 90 minutes.

The Clarets came close on a number of occasions, hitting the woodwork and forcing 16 corners, but just couldn't break the deadlock against the visitors.

Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Parker explained: "First of all, it's not the result we wanted. We're disappointed, we're frustrated for sure with the result, but that performance overall was top.

"We obviously played a team that came here with a plan of what they wanted to do in terms of how they played and we had to take it to them from the first minute.

"It was a bit like a boxing match today, it was always going to end in the 9th or 10th round, the way they had set-up from the start and we just couldn't quite get the job done at the end of the game.

"You play that game again 10 more times and it's probably a different result. The performance was arguably one of the best performances we have put in all season, but today just wasn't the day for us."

Parker's side enjoyed 75% of the ball and had 22 efforts on goal, and the Clarets boss admitted he was 'gutted' for his team not to get the victory.

"I'm gutted for the players, I asked for a dominant performance today and that's exactly what we got. It's fine margins, and we won't get too involved in the emotions of this league, sometimes this is just football.

"There's a lot of work still to do and we know that, loads to do in the final third and going into that final play, but we'll keep nudging along and looking to improve.

"This is the rollercoaster of the Championship, we take the point, we take the clean sheet and we move on to next weekend at Millwall."
