Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm that Sam Waller has signed a new contract that runs until the summer of 2026, with the Club holding a one-year extension option.
The goalkeeper’s existing deal, which was his first professional contract, was due to expire in 2025.
When asked how it feels to have put pen to paper, he said: “It’s amazing! My goal is to play for Burnley and I’ve been here since the age of 12.
“Being able to step out onto the Turf with the first team one day is something that I dream of and I’m looking forward to continuing to push on in the next couple of years.
“Learning off and having those relationships with the senior players and the first team goalkeeping coaches here is only going to make me get better.”
Waller joined the Clarets aged 12 in 2016 and has progressed through the Academy ranks, becoming a mainstay of the U21s team in the 2021/22 season.
The shot stopper has previously gained senior experience on loan at Lancaster City and Hyde United, spending the first half of last season at the latter and making 25 appearances in all competitions.
Since then the 21-year-old has spent much of his training ground time with the senior team and was involved in Scott Parker’s squad’s trip to Spain this summer.
Waller has featured in both of the U21s’ Premier League cup matches to date this campaign, keeping a clean sheet against Brighton & Hove Albion at Turf Moor.
The ‘keeper continued: “I haven’t played a game for a while, so I asked to be dropped in and the coaches chose the Premier League Cup games.
“Being able to play at two historic grounds like Kenilworth Road and Turf Moor in front of the fans was an amazing feeling.
“My main aim for the rest of the season is to keep training every day, improving and working with the coaches.”
